Elder Support

Our Elders carry our language, ceremonies, and stories. This program protects their well-being, safety, and comfort — with enhanced health support and connection to community.

Housing support $1,000per member / year

Assistance for rent, lease agreements, mortgage payments, or damage deposits.

  • Unused portions under $1,000/month are applied to following month(s)
  • Submit a rental/lease agreement, mortgage document, or damage deposit invoice
  • Living with family or friends? Provide proof of off-reserve residency — government ID with your address or registered mail
  • Payment goes directly to the landlord, property manager, or homeowner

Health care aid / Dental / Vision $500per member / year

Enhanced coverage for emergency or scheduled medical expenses not covered by other health benefit programs — prescriptions, equipment, dental, and vision.

  • May be used multiple times up to the $500 annual maximum (e.g., $200 dental + $300 vision)
  • Provide a medical appointment confirmation or prescription invoice, plus receipts

Essential resources $300per application

Help with essential needs like food, clothing, and utilities.

  • Pick an option on the application
  • Direct deposit form or void cheque for the applicant

Work wear support $250per application

Funds for work attire required for employment or volunteer roles — because many of our Elders still give their time.

  • Provide an employment or volunteer confirmation letter detailing the work wear requirements
  • Direct deposit form or void cheque for the applicant
Eligibility: registered WFLFN #459 off-reserve band member aged 60+, meeting the general eligibility requirements, with a completed application. Travel stipends for Elders are also provided at community events. The Off-Reserve Liaison is glad to help complete any application.
