The Off-Reserve Support Association was born from a simple truth: more than half of our Nation lives off-reserve, and distance should never mean disconnection.
Off-reserve members of Whitefish Lake First Nation #459 came together to form the Off-Reserve Committee — building a team agreement, governance structure, and accountability measures so that support for off-reserve members would be transparent and fair from day one.
The Off-Reserve Support Program was officially implemented — structured financial assistance for housing, employment, essential resources, health, and community engagement, funded through the Agricultural Heritage Trust Fund and run within its available interest to protect long-term sustainability.
The Off-Reserve Support Association — a non-profit created by the people, for the people — is being established to run and grow the program for generations: an independent board, professional administration, and a mission to make support for off-reserve members permanent and self-sustaining.
To enhance the quality of life, promote well-being, and foster community engagement for off-reserve band members by providing equitable access to financial assistance, housing solutions, cultural programs, and essential resources.
